ILMA Launches "Invite your Member of Congress to your Plant" Program
ALEXANDRIA, VA (May 27, 2008) — ILMA has launched a new program that encourages ILMA member companies with a plant or facility located in the U.S., to invite their Congressional Representatives to tour their company this summer.
Last month at the ILMA Management Forum, the ILMA Board of Directors approved a program to get ILMA's name - and member companies - in front of Congressional representatives, so that when they are in the home district, they are able to meet the many names and faces of the lubricants industry.
ILMA is committed to not only providing a community of ethics, advocacy, and leadership, but also to making its name known among our elected officials. The Association asked all of its Key Reps to roll out the welcome mat and invite their Member of Congress to tour their facilities, and educate them on their company, introduce them to employees, and products.
Time spent on this effort, by each key rep, was minimal—just copying and pasting pre-written text into a new email and hitting "send."
"I hope that ILMA members will be able to put out the welcome mat for Congress this summer," ILMA Executive Director Celeste M. Powers said. "ILMA members are familiar with the ILMA brand, as well as others involved in the industry. The next step is to move beyond the industry and have those on Capitol Hill to become familiar with it as well. I'm looking forward to hearing about these plant tours from our members."
