ILMA Officers Speak at NORA and UEIL

ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 24, 2008) — ILMA Immediate Past President Anwer Hussain and current President Ron Powell recently represented ILMA on the national and international scenes when they delivered presentations on the Association at two industry meetings. Powell presented "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" at the Independent Union of the European Lubricants Industry (UEIL) Annual Congress in Warsaw, Poland. Hussain presented an overview of ILMA members and their base oil needs at the NORA Annual Recycling Conference and Trade Show in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Powell's presentation on Oct. 23, following the screening of the ILMA 60th Anniversary video, described future plans for the continuing partnership between ILMA and UEIL. Powell touched upon ILMA's major endeavors this year, including the 2008 Symposium on the Assessment and Control of Metal Removal Fluids in October, a project ILMA and UEIL worked on together to bring to fruition. Powell also discussed REACH compliance, ILMA's automotive committees and California's South Coast Air Quality Management District. "Our relationship with UEIL continues to flourish, Powell told ILMA. "UEIL is a part of ILMA's future, just as much as ILMA's members are. I enjoyed sharing ILMA's history—and its future—with delegates in Poland and I look forward to what the industry brings blenders, and their customers, worldwide." The ILMA President traditionally attends UEIL's Congress, held shortly after the ILMA Annual Meeting. Powell's presentation and attendance at UEIL helps to strengthen the relationship between ILMA and UEIL, which will continue to benefit members of both organizations.

Hussain's Nov. 7 presentation at NORA's Conference explained relationships between ILMA members and oil recyclers, and gave specific information about what types of base oils ILMA members use. Hussain spoke about ILMA members and their unique needs, highlighting that members value consistent quality, a high level of service and dependability among their suppliers most of all. "A number of ILMA members serve niche industries and ILMA's Executive Committee thought it was important to share our member's unique makeup with another unique industry — oil recycling," Hussain said. "We all understand the importance of high quality lubricants, throughout the industry, and I am happy to share our view of the industry with NORA." ILMA has worked on select projects with NORA over the past 25 years, and this partnership benefits all members, especially looking forward environmentally.
